Bach and Noodles ReviewThe problem I've had with a number of Harvey Pittel's recordings is that they include so many genres that they come off a little unfocused. For example, this disc contains one of the most musical versions of Milhaud's Scaramouche I ever heard. I mean, the guy really is a giant of the classical saxophone and IMO a better musician than some of the other folks who dominate the academic circles. But did the world really need an amalgamation of Bach and Johnny Mercer? The New Classics Suite strikes me as something that a much lesser player could have thrown together. Pittel should trust the public who is buying these European all-classical saxophone albums and concentrate on what he can really offer to the classical music world.Bach and Noodles Overview
