Children's Songs ReviewFunny how this recording grows on you over time. I have heard this often over the years and now for the last month have been listening to it almost daily. I feel (as another reviewer did) that in a hundred years, this may turn out to be one of the the best classical works of the late 20th century, even if it appears to be jazz-threaded. Its as good an 'existential' expression of the times as were the Chopin nocturnes, or the piano version of the Ravel Mother Goose Suite, or the Eric Satie solo piano classics. If you are moved by those pieces, you will indeed like these. These works by Chick are pensive, profound, lyrical. And after 19 piano solos comes the Addendum for Violin, Cello and Piano which is a terrific classically modelled trio.Children's Songs Overview
