The Concert (2004) ReviewI bought this on DVD after I had recently pulled out the Indian Summer CD and revisited the excellent music on it. Wondering if Friedemann had done anything lately, I discovered this DVD concert. If you're a fan of Friedemann's music & fantastic guitar ability, you owe to yourself to buy this DVD while it's still available here in the States. But this isn't really a solo Friedemann show, it's actually a concert by his full band and an awesome one at that. Their music is not strictly in the New Age camp - it also has a lot of smooth jazz leanings with a fine sax & clarinet player (Phillipe Geiss), and the xylophonist (whose name I don't recall)- both these two musicians played on the Indian Summer album. The drummer and keyboardist/bassist round out the band nicely. My personal favorite track on here, in addition to the Indian Summer songs (four of those), is "The Lady From Yonder Hill" - it's hard to get the melody out of your head once you hear it a few times. The Friedemann Band's performance on this DVD is simply amazing - it doesn't sound like a live concert, they play with the precision of a recorded performance. Friedemann's guitar playing is as good as anyone I can think of who plays New Age music as well as some fine Flamenco playing on here as well. His guitar sound is just wonderful - I wish I knew what brand of guitar he's playing! This concert runs nearly 2 full hours but you get into the individual songs so much, it doesn't feel that long. A well-recorded document of an excellent performance - highly recommended for both fans of Friedemann and New Age/Smooth Jazz fans who aren't familiar with his music & guitar artistry. The Concert (2004) OverviewWant to learn more information about The Concert (2004)?
