Petr Lescenco Sings ReviewThe prestigious Austrian label Preiser added this Peter Lescenco CD to their catalogue in 2001. Additional biographical details were added to the vague notes that had accompanied several LP reissues of the waffling "rare ability to capture the composer's mood" type.
No singer evokes a long tradition of Slavonic singing while fully exploiting the popular tango and fox trot idioms of the early 1930s more vividly than Peter Lescenco. To these qualities he added a special individuality. All of which is providing even more waffle, I realize. Perhaps other Internet browsers can provide additional data on this intriguing singer who was born in the Ukraine and made his home in Romania.
