Segovia & His Contemporaries, Vol. 6 ReviewFor those who appreciate Segovia this recording offers a brief glimpse of his early prowess. The solos by Llobet are interesting though they are hurt by poor quality. They do show his amazing left hand and gigantic imagination! Segovia said that Llobet was a master at hiding his mistakes. This album proves it so.
The gem of the album is Maria Luisa Anido. Her romantic stylings will annoy some. The Bach demonstrates the great jump in performance practice in 70 years, I say thankfully... kind of. The romantic music is her strength. Never have I heard such tremolo! Where has this goddess of sound, dynamic, control been!
