Once Canciones de Diego Luzuriaga ReviewI heard excerpts from this album of songs for guitar and voice while driving, and once home immediately emailed the station (WNYC) to find out where I could get my hands on a copy. Fortunately, we are not to be frustrated - it's here on Amazon.
In these songs in classical/folk style by Ecuadorian composer Diego Luzuriaga, the guitar accompaniment by Bill Girolamo is very fine, but the voice of Dana Hanchard, which reminds me of Victoria de Los Angeles, goes directly to the soul. If you are not moved by these luminous songs, you have no hope!
It's said that Luzuriaga composed the songs for his friends, who eventually persuaded him to make them public. Good judgement!
