Music Is Chemical ReviewI've been a fan of Mera's work with Black Tape for a Blue Girl and Faith and the Muse for many years, with Remnants of a Deeper Purity being my favorite BTFBG album of all time where she appears as cellist and front-cover model. But you add Byron Brown's talents to the mix and Mera taking on the vocals and I was literally blown away from the first time I heard samples on mp3.com. I have had the album now since it first came out and it still gets tons of play on my stereo. This band is a classic that will remain on Gothic Paradise for as long as they are making music. The New Wave, Gothic and Ethereal influences all blend so well to create a very accessible, never boring and smooth sound. "Walking West" reminds me of the better smooth songs of Faith and the Muse and "Nu Wave Fairy" brings out the best of the New Wave genre rivaling and superceding other greats like Blondie and Berlin. This is highly recommended, see my full review at Gothic Paradise - www.gothicparadise.com.Music Is Chemical OverviewMusic Is Chemical is mercurial in nature, as the band's name would suggest.Like a constant emotional polar shift, this album is introspective in the vein of the Cure, with energy and presence much like New Order.Seemingly fragile moments build into heavy walls of sound that hit hard without losing a melodic edge.This album will appeal to the true alternative crowd who crave music with substance, as well as those who just want to hit the dance floor.
