Songs From The Road To Enlightenment ReviewWhat I love about this CD is that you can enjoy it on two levels: As a collection of original songs with great music and as a source of inspiration and encouragement.
The musical styles are varied and interesting. There's classic rock, blues, soul and even a touch of jazz and all the songs have really inspiring lyrics. I wasn't familiar with all the musicians, but they are excellent, especially Marvin Taylor on guitar. Marvin's well known in Atlanta for his work with Francine Reed and a band called Java Monkey. Francine performs a new version of one of Marvin's songs on the CD. It's called What Is That Light, and it's terrific.
The other track I really love is a song by Randall Bramblett called Be True To You. It's typical of Randall's jazz-flavored style of playing and the vocal performance is really bluesy. It has some interesting things to say as well.
This is an unusual CD. It's not Christian rock, but it is inspiring. Most rock or pop songs have lyrics that are either too obscure to understand or too lightweight to bother about, even if the music is good. This CD has great music and no self-indulgent words. Every song means something, but none of them preach. All the songs have words of encouragement that you can use to motivate yourself. It's not often you come across a CD that can help you to change your life, but this one can.Songs From The Road To Enlightenment Overview
