Sick Little Monkey ReviewThis is a 'must have' CD for anyone who remembers when musical experimentation was all the rage, or for anyone just tired of today's formulaic 4 minute alt-rock. The DGs touch upon countless influences here, from delta blues to Sonic Youth to King Crimson and everything in between. They're not afraid to mix it all up in a big chum bucket and throw it down in a sea of guitars (wow that's weird, even for me!). Yes, the emphasis here is definitly on GUITARS, although the rhythm section is rock solid as well. There are extended guitar freakouts where it sounds like the instruments are actually being tortured (Counting On You). There are warm "woman-toned" slo-blues guitar excursions, reminiscent of Cream-era Clapton (V8 Ford). There are Eno-esque soundscapes (Now, Immortal). There are screaming slide guitars (Whiskey And Mary Jane). But since the disc clocks in at 70 minutes, so there's also room for driving rock (Pillar Of Salt), high-speed hyper-blues ("Whiskey & MJ" again), and moody ballads (Long Distance Runner), complete with quirky vocals and great lyrics that put you out in the desert with an angry diety, back in the Summer of Love, or in any other number of strange places. Hell, these Devil Gods even threw in a cover of "In The Year 2525"! They weren't afraid to try everything and anything, so don't be afraid to listen!!Sick Little Monkey Overview
