Bedtime With The Beatles - Instrumental Versions Of Classic Beatles Songs ReviewI was given this CD by my brother for Christmas, as my wife and I were expecting a baby. I must admit to being cynical about it, having heard other arrangements of Beatles music in the past and the carnage which can so easily result. Although Jason Falkner's name on the package helped alleviate my fears.
Before our son Toby was born, I listened to the CD a couple of times while repainting his room, and was pleasantly surprised. But it really comes into its own when listening to it at 2 in the morning, calming a baby (and parents) back to sleep. As you drift away, you can really feel the love and respect Falkner has for the music, and his arrangements are virtuosic in their understatement, beauty and gentleness. It's also a much better CD than most lullaby collections as there's not one bad or jarring track - while you're falling asleep you don't want to have to skip over that one song that you hate.
