Ways Not to Lose ReviewThis record in my opinion is truly as good as you could ever want it. Highly inventive songs that play on and willingly reveal their roots, while maintaining complete originality. Oliver Wood's voice with Chris singing harmonies accompanied by old school steel guitar and Chris' distinctive style of upright bass. Hard to choose which songs are the best as in my humble opinion they all are quite wonderful. Luckiest Man, The Truth is the Light, That's What Angels can Do and Chocolate are probably my absolute favorites - but I think One More Day can be a hymn for the February Funk. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended. For me this is the most interesting singer/songwriter record to come out in a LONG TIME.Ways Not to Lose OverviewWay's Not To Lose a stunning debut album of original songs from Oliver and Chris Wood (Medeski Martin & Wood). Like the work of Leon Russell, early Tom Waits, or Dr. John, the songs of The Wood Brothers possess a timeless quality; their bedrock melodies and astutely observed stories sound instantly archetypal. The songs are arranged just as the brothers conceived them expressive yet economical, letting Oliver's coarse, impressionistic guitar work and Chris' nimble, note-bending bass playing speak volumes. Blue Note. 2006.

Great Dobro Sessions ReviewGreat instrumental project! Most of the Dobro "Celebrities" are on this album, the great old players like Josh Graves and Mike Auldridge as well as the young players like Gene Wooten and Sally Van Meter. They all have one thing in common - extraordinary musicianship. The danger with instrumentaö projects featuring the same instrument is always that it gets boring after awhile, but not here. There are so many different ways to play, also the song selection, from traditional fast-paced bluegrass to modern sounds, everything is here and the Dobro really fits for the complete musical spectrum. I really enjoyed this album!Great Dobro Sessions Overview

Freight Train And Other North Carolina Folk Songs and Tunes ReviewWhen I first heard this CD I was astounded not just by the
technical ability of Libba Cotten, but also by the sheer
spiritual feeling she gives to the songs. She also plays really
gently, never overemphasising anything.Freight Train And Other North Carolina Folk Songs and Tunes Overview
