The Scent of Light ReviewI have been listening to Ottmar for many years. This is an awesome achievement on his part, I think. I have not stopped listening since I bought it. A definite must for Ottmar fans!The Scent of Light OverviewWhile The Scent of Light is Ottmar Liebert + Luna Negra's first studio album featuring the band since 2004's La Semana, the recording picks up on the spacial sensibility of the recent binaural CD Up Close by spreading the sound across the full stereo field to create superb listening depth. While Ottmar has stepped away from the recent minimalism of his 2007 Grammy nominated solo album One Guitar, you still sense the high resolution, beautiful clarity, and live combo dynamic. It's a layered recording, with the multiple guitars, basses, keyboards & percussion subtly exchanging altitude, rooms, and dimensions. The excellent detailing and positioning leaves a lot of space for the imagination to roam, resulting in a big sound, big pictures, big stories.

Love at First Sting ReviewLove At First Sting was the Scorpions' most successful album in the U.S. and remains their strongest album. Although Savage Amusement would chart higher on the charts and their biggest hit "Wind Of Change" appeared on Crazy World, Love At First Sting was their best album featuring their strongest collection of songs.
This album features an equal balance of heavier tracks, catchy metal driven by memorable riffs, and power ballads, and most of them are top notch. The acoustic turned heavy rocker "Coming Home" is one of the strongest tracks and was the opening song for many of their live shows. "Rock You Like A Hurricane" would be one of their biggest hits and remains their signature song. The ballad "Still Loving You" remains one of the best of the metal era and features some excellent passionate soloing from lead guitarist Matthias Jabs. Tracks like "Big City Nights", "Bad Boys Running Wild", and "I'm Leaving You" are all very strong, featuring excellent melodies penned by rhythm guitarist Rudolf Schenker. The lesser known songs are also very good, particularly the anti-war track "Crossfire", driven by Herman Rarebell's hypnotic march beat and "As Soon As The Good Times Roll." An excellent album. Highly recommended to fans of great '80s melodic metal.Love at First Sting Overview

G.I. Blues (Widescreen) (1960) Review"G.I. Blues" was #2 on the top grossing films at the box office when it was released. The storyline is Elvis plays Tulsa MacLean. Him and his Army buddies are about to get out of the army and look forward to opening up their own nightclub back in Oklahoma. Along the way, Tulsa is caught up in a bet that sees if he can date the enticing and cold-as-ice Cafe Europa dancer Lili (Juliet Prowse). Tulsa and Lili go further than that: they take a modest cruise to across the river to a puppet show where Tulsa sings "Wooden Heart". They both ride above a vineyard in a cablecar where again he breaks into "Pocketful of Rainbows." Then Tulsa is asked to baby-sit for a buddy who ran away to get married, and he's caught in a tight situation. Him and Lili reunite and spend the night with each other baby-sitting "Tiger". The bet is easily won. When Lili finds out, she's steamed! Little does she know that Tulsa really was Marla and Rick's baby-sitter. Tulsa and Lili come back together after an unexpected proposal, and following is an all-American Armed Forces Show finale where Tulsa and the rest of the memebers of the armed forces sing "Did'ja Ever?".G.I. Blues (Widescreen) (1960) OverviewStationed in Germany, Army specialist Tulsa McLean (Elvis) and his buddies are saving up to open a nightclub after they get discharged. To build their seed money faster, they make a wager that one of their own can seduce a sexy, hard-to-get cabaret dancer (Juliet Prowse). But when their chosen Romeo gets transferred to Alaska, Tulsa must step in to melt her heart, win the bet and save their dream. He's ready to rise to the challenge . . . but the last thing he expects is to fall in love.

Best of Rockers & Ballads ReviewWe used to call this music heavy metal, but the stuff they call heavy metal today is so unlistenable that I don't know if the Scorpions still fall in that category. Anyway, it's still hard rock -- with melody. It's not just power chords, which sets it above mediocre to poor rockers like Motley Crue. It's not just wild guitar solos (I don't think that these guys could play as fast as Eddie Van Halen). But the Scorpions rank high on the metal food chain. And if you disagree, that's okay, but I don't recommend that you express that opinion in Germany, where the Scorpions reign like Bruce Springsteen in the U.S.A. or U2 in Ireland.Best of Rockers & Ballads Overview
