Harmony ReviewWhether you know Never Shout Never as Nevershoutnever, Christofer Drew, or Never Shout Never, you should know that he makes some fantastic music. His songs snd album are thought through, heartfelt, catchy, simple, and flabbergasting. Here's an in-depth look on his most recent and most mature album yet.
-"HARMONY": A run-of-the-mill title track. Not that good, but not that bad either. It just didn't seem to get anywhere. 5/10
-"THIS S**T GETZ OLD": This song shows an edgier NSN. It has the catchy, lighthearted melody that we all know and love, plus the biting lyrics that we have also come accustomed to. A great song with a great beat. The perfect song if you're fed up with someone. 8/10
-"CHEATERCHEATERBESTFRIENDEATER": One of the best songs on the album. This is more classic NSN, just some harmonies, a uke and a few rocks. Extremely catchy, and is a feel good song, despite the serious content matter. 10/10
-"LOVESICK": This is a song that grows on you. When you first hear it, you will probably just pass it off as filler. It's not. Trust me. The lyrics are simple, ingenious and very relatable, and the instrumentation and melody are just as good. 9/10
-"PIGGY BANK": The first thing I noticed when I listened to this song was that PIGGYBANK is borderline country. I usually don't like country, but NSN pulls it off somehow. 7/10
-"I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW": In a word, beautiful. 10/10
-"FIRST DANCE": This song is just so adorable. It's also catchy (aren't they all?). One of my favorites. 10/10
-"LOUSY TRUTH": As much as I don't want to admit it, this song is just okay. The lyrics are good, but I feel that The melody/instrumentation could have been so much better. 6/10
-"TRAMPOLINE" This song is good, but it bugs me. Not because of the lyrics, or the music, or the fact that it's annoying (which it's not). It the fact that the arrangement is just not good. The song has so much potential. The part that bugs me is that this song has an okay part and an incredible part. The okay part is 90% of the song. The incredible part is the bridge, which is fast catchy, and simply astonishingly good. I think that the two parts should be switch so the amazing part be played more. Or make the awesome part into a completely different song. Or, if you want it to be true to it's name, make the chorus one part and the verse another part, so it signifies the highs and lows of jumping on a trampoline. Eh. No one asked me. 7/10
-"SWEET PERFECTION": One of my favorites. Catchy (how many times am I going to use that word?), clever, and awesome. 10/10
-"SELLOUT" Another one of those "Great lyrics! Too bad about the music, though." 7/10
-OVERALL: In my opinion, a more complete and mature album that his previous efforts. His best work yet. 10/10Harmony Overview

The Very Best of Badfinger ReviewI'll begin by saying that I have very mixed feelings about this collection. As a single-disc compilation, it is obviously not as comprehensive as the two previous volume of "The Best of Badfinger". On the other hand, it does condense their Apple and Warner Brother years onto one tidy disc for the first time ever. For anybody who's never really experienced Badfinger, this collection is probably a good place to start. Yes, many people have heard several of the hits before, but they don't know who sang them. Play this at any gathering and I guarantee that everybody will know at least two or three of these songs (you may even create some new Badfinger fans).
Now for the critique...
The compilers pretty much culled all of the essential tracks from their album as the Iveys and from their first album as Badfinger (except for maybe "Crimson Ship" from _Magic Christian Music_) The same goes for the tracks from their second album, _No Dice_. One can never tire of the likes of "No Matter What" or "We're for the Dark". The inclusion of the "rare" "I'll Be the One" is a nice surprise.
The selections from _Straight Up_ and _Ass_ are, however, highly suspect. Yes, we have "Day After Day", "Baby Blue" (simply the best power-pop song ever recorded by anyone), and "When I Say". But what possessed the producers to replace the majestic piano-driven _Straight Up_ take of "Name of the Game" with a highly inferior guitar-based recording from the same sessions? This is NOT the way for the casual listener to be introduced to such a great song!
As for _Ass_, why does Capitol insist on mistreating this highly underrated album so much?! First, they choose not to reissue it in the U.S., then they practically ignore it on this collection. "When I Say" is a great song, but what about "Apple of My Eye", "I Can Love You", or "Timeless"?
The big news here, of course, is the inclusion of several WB tracks, all of which are worth the price of admission, especially "Love Time" and the stunning medley "Meanwhile at the Ranch/Should I Smoke".
I recommend this collection to anyone who's never really heard Badfinger aside from there few hits. From here, though, the listener is advised to check out their individual albums, especially _Straight Up_, _Ass_ (good luck!), and _Wish You Were Here_.The Very Best of Badfinger Overview

Threeleggeddog ReviewThis is a hidden gem. I have seen this band in San Diego and Lake Tahoe and they are amazing. I cannot believe they never got bigger than a regional cult following. They had a couple songs in movies and won a billboard award but not much more. More known for the live shows I guess. I heard they signed some crappy record deal and things with this cd fizzled out. Last I heard they were recording a follow-up and doing some shows in Europe, where they have a minor following. Band members all work in other acts so getting together is hit and miss. Who knows, maybe they'll be back with more killer tunes.
Meanwhile, this cd well worth a listen.Cheers

Creatures of Bread & Wine ReviewI've been following Admiral Twin since even before they were Admiral twin... still called The Mellodramtic Wallflowers.
A very talented group of local guys from the Tulsa Ok area who took a shot w/ "Mock Heroic" ( a great pop LP) and toured opening for hansen before getting over run by the record company shuffles.
Thye have great rock sense and put together songs that are both lyrically well done and have the hook that we hear so often on successful acts who rfeally aren't as good as the guys in Admiral Twin.
Thye are worth the listen and so is this CD.
You can't go wrong by giving any of their CDs a spinCreatures of Bread & Wine Overview

Mars Needs Guitars ReviewMars needs guitars was one of my favorite albums when I was in high school. I wore out the tape playing it in my car. It is a classic for fans of alternative bands from the eighties.
The best two tracks on the album are "Bittersweet" and "Wipeout". The rest of the material on this album is also strong, and lets the band display a wider array of musical talent than their first album (Stoneage Romeos). I saw the gurs live when they toured for this album (they actually opened for the Bangles, and I think I was one of three guru fans in the crowd), and all the songs sounded great live and loud. With that in mind, I recommend listening to this album on a loud stereo, preferably with the volume high, to get the full effect. It just doesn't sound the same on a walkman.
I highly recommend this album to any Hoodoo Guru fan if you don't already own it. For anyone not familiar with the band, they have a very guitar based garage band sound (similar to the Replacements). So, if you like the Replacements, the Alarm, REM, or the BoDeans, you will most likely also enjoy this band. Enjoy.Mars Needs Guitars Overview
